Silver Five Ounces 2020 Universal Gods - Re, Coin from Niue - detailed information

The obverse of the coin shows the crowned mature head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right (her effigy known as the "Fourth Portrait"). The Queen wears the "Girls of Great Britain and Ireland" diamond tiara, a wedding gift from Queen Mary (Her Majesty's grandmother) in 1947 - which she also has on the Machin and the Gottwald portraits.

In small letters below the head, the artist's initials IRB (for Ian Rank-Broadley).

Around the effigy is the monarch's legend, the date of issue and the value: NIUE ISLAND 10 DOLLARS ELIZABETH II 2020.

On the left, the precious metal content: Ag 999 · 5 oz (five troy ounces of 99.9% silver; Ag is abbreviated from Argentum, the Latin word for silver).

Behind the portrait on the left, the mint mark of the Czech Mint - a crowned monogram of the letters ČM (Česká mincovna).

The rim features decorative ornaments of Greek, Scandinavian, Slavic, Mesoamerican and Egyptian origin. The obverse side is common to the whole cycle of divine coins, and is designed by a team of Czech Mint artists.

The reverse design, which is in the characteristic artistic style of the ancient Egyptians - who did not use perspective - depicts a god with a human body and a falcon head standing in his boat. In one hand he holds a sceptre - a symbol of power, and in the other an ankh - a symbol of life. Above his head, the sun disk wrapped with a snake.

In the left part of the reverse side there are hieroglyphs symbolising the god Re, and in the right part there is Horus' eye, which is an iconic symbol of health and strength. The designer's monogram FM (for Mária Filová) is below right.

In the exergue, the inscription RE.
