The Tuvaluan Dollar is the currency of Tuvalu - a small nation in the Pacific Ocean. Tuvalu has never had banknotes of its own, and has been issuing coins since 1976; these circulate together with coins of the Australian Dollar, which is also legal tender in the country, and to which the Tuvaluan Dollar is pegged.
The Australian Perth Mint issues a large variety of non-circulating legal tender coins under the authority of Tuvalu. Some of these are in the silver ounce format (abbreviated as 1 oz). Strictly speaking, they are not bullion as they are priced at a premium and are targeted at collectors who appreciate them for their artistic merit and collectable value and not just for their precious metal content.
This coin is part of a series dedicated to the Chinese Lunar Year of the Tiger 2022.

Determined, courageous, and confident, the tiger is said to bestow many positive characteristics on people born during its years of influence - including 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010 and 2022. The release incorporates a tiger-shaped 18-carat gold-plated sterling silver charm which rotates on a pin holding it securely at the coin’s centre. |

At the centre of the coin is a circular rotating silver bead insert representing a tiger, plated with 18ct gold. The charm is surrounded by artistic portrayals of tigers, each with stripes on its forehead representing the Chinese character for "king" (the same also appears on the central bead).
The Perth Mint's P mint mark is on the left. The designer's initials NM (for Natasha Muhl) are on the right, near the rim.
