Niue, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar is the circulation currency for daily transactions, while the government also authorises legal tender coins in the Niue Dollar currency for collector's purposes.
A number of mints issue a large variety of commemorative, bullion and collector coins under the authority of Niue. These coins are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Niue itself. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes - typically, one ounce of silver (abbreviated as 1 oz Ag, where "Ag" comes from the Latin word for silver, Argentum). Many of these feature characters and themes from popular culture.
This coloured and specially shaped silver coin celebrates the popular game Dungeons and Dragons.
The mint says about it: Made of 1oz pure silver, this epic coin is inspired by the iconic game. Create your own story, the game has just begun...
The legendary Dungeons & Dragons game was first published in 1974, and since then, millions of players worldwide have stepped into the boots of mighty heroes (and sneaky antiheroes) to explore fantasy worlds and embark on epic quests. The collective creativity in D&D builds stories that you’ll tell again and again - ranging from the stuff of legend to absurd incidents that’ll make you laugh years later!
The uniquely shaped coin displays action-packed, coloured imagery inspired by the game. Frosted engraving and mirror-finish are featured behind, creating a striking contrast. And it doesn’t stop there, turn the coin around to find awesome dice detailing. The Public Seal of Niue is also engraved, to confirm the coin as legal tender.
Officially licensed, each memento is presented in a high-quality, themed box. Inside, the coin is held in an acrylic capsule for protection and tucked in black velvet. Printed on the box are a Certificate of Authenticity and the coin’s unique number in the limited mintage of just 1,000. |
