Niue, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar is the circulation currency for daily transactions, while the government also authorises legal tender coins in the Niue Dollar currency for collector's purposes.
A number of mints issue a large variety of commemorative, bullion and collector coins under the authority of Niue. These coins are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Niue itself. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes - typically, one ounce of silver (abbreviated as 1 oz Ag, where "Ag" comes from the Latin word for silver, Argentum). Many of these feature famous movie characters.
This coin is the first issue in a series celebrating the release of Fast and Furious X.
Director Rob Cohen set out to make the first Fast and Furious movie inspired by a 1998 article in Vibe magazine about New York street racing. Centred on illegal drag racing in LA, the movie premiered in 2001 and starred Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, and Michelle Rodriguez.
Since then, nine additional Fast and Furious movies have been produced, making it one of the most ambitious film series in Universal Studio’s history. Vin Diesel has appeared in all ten films and has been joined by additional stars such as Dwayne Johnson, John Cena, and Jason Statham. |
