Niue, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar is the circulation currency for daily transactions, while the government also authorises legal tender coins in the Niue Dollar currency for collector's purposes.
A number of mints issue a large variety of commemorative, bullion and collector coins under the authority of Niue. These coins are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Niue itself. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes - typically, one ounce of silver (abbreviated as 1 oz Ag, where "Ag" comes from the Latin word for silver, Argentum). Many of these feature famous movie characters.
This coin is part of a series which marks 100 Years of Warner Bros, and features cartoon character Wile E. Coyote.
The mint says about it: Wile E. Coyote is a creative fiend who always creates new inventions to catch the irritating Road Runner. Although he has made many attempts, he has never succeeded in catching his speedy opponent, but rather than be thwarted by the Road Runner, who is often unaware of the Coyote's plans, Wile E. himself causes his plans to backfire, mainly because he did not plan for the potential consequences of his actions. He is impatient as well, which sometimes results in him falling victim to his plans. Furthermore, the ACME Corporation products he uses rarely work, and when they do, he takes the pain instead of the Road Runner.
The coin features a punch out, made to look as if Wile E. has smashed right through it during one of his failed plans - it’s bound to make you smile! This unique design is one not seen on many of our coins. The ACME Corporation logo is displayed on the side in colour and the coin includes a brilliant antique finish.
Turn to the obverse to find the complementary engraving of a starburst, confirming it’s made with 999 fine silver along with the Public Seal of Niue. This legal tender coin has a limited worldwide mintage of just 2,000.
The packaging complements the coin just perfectly, a crate-style with the ACME logo on the top, resembling one of their products. It arrives in a colourful outer box, themed with Looney Tunes character imagery. Printed on the back are a Certificate of Authenticity and the coin’s unique number. |
