The Australian quarter-ounce gold piece (abbreviated as 1/4 oz and designated with Au for "gold") is a bullion coin format. Uniquely, in Australia there are two mints authorised to strike legal tender: the Royal Australian Mint (which also makes the country's circulating coinage) and the Perth Mint which only makes collector and bullion coins, as well as other bullion products. Both mints endeavour to create coins with attractive designs, and to introduce new designs and themes often, in order to raise the numismatic value of the coins over the value of previous metal used. Australia has always been known as one of the top tourist destinations for a number of world travellers. There are a lot of reasons to go to this vibrant country. However, one of the most popular attractions that draw people within Australia’s borders has to be its wildlife. From a large, colourful outback to the wide array of inhabitants that dwell in it, Australia is a beautiful place to go to. This Australia Wildlife coin celebrates three of Australia’s most iconic creatures: the kangaroo, the kookaburra, and the koala. Each of them has its own bullion coin collection, but the Perth Mint, in a special release, offers collectors and investors the opportunity to have all of them in this single design. | ||||||
