The Democratic Republic of the Congo normally uses banknotes for circulation, and does not issue coins in the Congolese Franc currency. However, the country has authorised some foreign mints to issue commemorative and bullion coins under its jurisdiction.

Most of them are in internationally popular sizes, including the half gram of gold mini-coin format - such as this coin.

This gold coin is dedicated to the Platinum jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II (70 years since her accession to the throne).

The mint says about it:
On 6 February 1952 Elizabeth II ascended the throne at the age of 25 and was crowned queen at Westminster Abbey on 2 June 1953. The ceremony, with the exception of the anointing and communion, was televised for the first time. Since then, Elizabeth II has been the constitutional monarch of 16 sovereign states known as "Commonwealth Realms", including their territories and dependent territories. She is also head of the 53-state Commonwealth of Nations and secular head of the Anglican Church of England. Queen Elizabeth II is the longest reigning monarch to date and the first to celebrate such an anniversary.

Obverse

Within a beaded border, the obverse of the coin depicts the Coat of Arms of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which consists of a leopard head surrounded by an elephant tusk to the left and a spear to the right. On a ribbon below, the national motto JUSTICE PAIX TRAVAIL (from French: Justice, Peace, Work).

Below the Coat of Arms, in small letters the precious metal of the coin: 0.5 g Au 999.9 (half gram of 99.99% gold; Au is abbreviated from Aurum, the Latin word for gold).

Around above, the name of the country: REPUBLIQUE DEMOCATIQUE DU CONGO.

Around below, the nominal face value of the coin: · 10 FRANCS ·.

Reverse

The reverse design features a detailed portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on her throne. She wears a crown and a cape and holds a sceptre and and orb in her hands.

Surrounding the portrait is the inscription HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II - PLATINUM JUBILEE - 2022.

In the left field, the Queen's cypher E II R (Elizabeth II Regina - Elizabeth the Second, Queen), crowned with the Crown of Saint Edward.
