Silver Two Ounces 2023 Comix - Batman #1, Coin from Niue - detailed information

Niue, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar is the circulation currency for daily transactions, while the government also authorises legal tender coins in the Niue Dollar currency for collector's purposes.

A number of mints issue a large variety of commemorative, bullion and collector coins under the authority of Niue. These coins are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Niue itself. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes - for example, two ounces of silver (abbreviated as 2 oz Ag, where "Ag" comes from the Latin word for silver, Argentum).

This coin is part of the COMIX series of rectangular coloured coins featuring comics books, and represents Batman #1.

The mint says about the coin:
The first comic dedicated to Batman - Batman #1 - stands out on 1oz silver! This superb coin displays a coloured image of the cover of the Batman #1 comic from March 1940. To mimic the comic book, it is crafted into a rectangular shape and coloured on all four sides to represent the spine and pages! As legal tender, the obverse displays the Public Seal of Niue.

Created in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, each collectible is held inside an acrylic capsule for protection and nestled in black velvet. A custom-designed outer box houses the coin and includes a large display window so you can easily showcase it. Printed on the back of the box, you will find a Certificate of Authenticity and the coin’s unique number in the limited mintage of 1,000.
