Niue, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar is the circulation currency for daily transactions, while the government also authorises legal tender coins in the Niue Dollar currency for collector's purposes.
A number of mints issue a large variety of commemorative, bullion and collector coins under the authority of Niue. These coins are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Niue itself. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes - typically, one ounce of silver (abbreviated as 1 oz Ag, where "Ag" comes from the Latin word for silver, Argentum). Many of these feature characters and themes from popular culture.
This shaped coin from the Faces of Gotham series features DC Comics character Two-Face.
The Mint says about it: Our Faces of Gotham Coin Collection now includes Gotham City’s criminal mastermind, Two-Face. This riveting design cleverly combines both shape and colour to mark the contrast between the two sides of Two-Face. Some light relief has been added to the design to create further impact. On the obverse side is the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, to confirm it as legal tender despite its unusual format.
A window in the themed packaging allows you to display this unique collectible without ever having to remove it from its packaging. Although, if you want a close-up look that’s fine too, inside the coin is housed in an acrylic capsule for protection. There is a worldwide release of only 5,000 coins, and each has a Certificate of Authenticity and unique serial number on the box to confirm its authenticity. |
