One Dollar 2022 Platinum Jubilee, Coin from Australia - detailed information

The obverse of the coin depicts the crowned old bust of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, wearing the Royal Diamond Diadem crown worn for her Coronation (effigy known as the "Fifth Portrait" worldwide but "Sixth Portrait" in Australia, where the Queen's portrait by Vladimir Gottwald was fifth).

The Queen also wears the Coronation Necklace; originally made for Queen Victoria in 1858, it was also worn at the coronations (as Queen's Consort) of Queen Alexandra in 1902, Queen Mary in 1911 and Queen Elizabeth (the Queen mother) in 1937.

Unlike on British coinage, the effigy is "uncouped" (includes the Queen's shoulders). In small letters on the left, the artist's initials JC (for Jody Clark).

Running continuously around the rim is the monarch's legend, the date of issue and the face value: ELIZABETH II · AUSTRALIA 2022 · 1 DOLLAR ·.

The reverse of the coin depicts the Shield of the Royal Coat of Arms, which is quartered and represents England (three lions, in the top left and bottom right quadrants), Scotland (a rampant lion in the upper right quadrant) and Ireland (a harp below left). The sections for Scotland and Ireland have frosted background.

In he background, an artistic interpretation of the mantle from the Royal Arms - originally a linen cover on the back of a medieval knight's helmet, and two figurative flower stems each combining an English rose, Irish shamrock and Scottish thistle, together with Australian wattle - Australia's national floral emblem.

On three lines above right, the inscription H.M. QUEEN ELIZABETH 1952 | 2022.

Affixed to the commemorative envelope featuring a floral pattern is an Australia Post $1.10 stamp depicting a coloured photographic portrait of the Queen in 1952, and a 7 June 2022-dated crown-shaped postmark from Elizabeth SA 5112. This limited release includes Australia Post’s Seal of Authenticity.
