Niue, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar is the circulation currency for daily transactions, while the government also authorises legal tender coins in the Niue Dollar currency for collector's purposes.
A number of mints issue a large variety of commemorative, bullion and collector coins under the authority of Niue. These coins are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Niue itself. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes - typically, one ounce of silver (abbreviated as 1 oz Ag, where "Ag" comes from the Latin word for silver, Argentum). Many of these feature famous movie characters.
This coin is the second issue in a series featuring coloured posters from the Lord of the Rings movies, and features The Two Towers.
The Mint says about it: Continue the quest to destroy the One Ring with this striking coin, part of the Lord of the Rings poster coin series!
This 1oz pure silver coin has been crafted into a rectangular shape and replicates the poster for the second film in the trilogy, The Two Towers. The majestic image is seen in colour, with a mirror-like border around it to further enhance the design. For a stunning contrast, the Dark Tower and the film’s logo are engraved and includes a frosted finish for effect. To confirm the coin as legal tender, the obverse includes the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll.
Created in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, this special piece is held inside an acrylic capsule for protection and arrives in a LORD OF THE RINGS themed box. The box includes a large display window so you can easily showcase your coin. Printed on the back are the specifications of the coin and a Certificate of Authenticity. You will also find the coin’s unique number in the mintage of only 3,000. |
