In the ring above, a small effigy of King Charles III - his Commonwealth portrait by Dan Thorne, whose initials DT are below the shoulder truncation.

Around the rim, the monarch's legend and the face value of the coin: CHARLES III AUSTRALIA 2 DOLLARS, on a background of stars.

Featuring an antiqued finish, the coin portrays leading characters from the story line, including the Nutcracker, his foe the Mouse King, and a young girl among Christmas gifts. Also included are fairies, Christmas trees, an owl, and golden-coloured stars
