Niue, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar is the circulation currency for daily transactions, while the government also authorises legal tender coins in the Niue Dollar currency for collector's purposes.
A number of mints issue a large variety of commemorative, bullion and collector coins under the authority of Niue. These coins are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Niue itself. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes - typically, one ounce of silver (abbreviated as 1 oz Ag, where "Ag" comes from the Latin word for silver, Argentum). Many of these feature characters and themes from popular culture.
The Mint says about this coin: This 1oz pure silver coin features The Chariot, which is card number Seven in the emblematic Tarot cards collection known as the Major Arcana. This splendid piece has been coloured, engraved, and shaped to replicate the Tarot card. The chariot itself is frosted, which contrasts beautifully against the mirror finish frame. The obverse of the coin includes a beautiful border surrounding the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, confirming the coin’s legal tender status.
Each coin is placed inside a custom-designed box that opens like a book to reveal the coin inside. On the box, you will find the Certificate of Authenticity and the coin’s unique number in the limited mintage of 2,000. The meaning of the card is shown on the inside front cover.
The Chariot represents overcoming hurdles and reaching your goals. To achieve success on the task at hand, you’ll need to use your strength, determination, and willpower. |
