Niue, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar is the circulation currency for daily transactions, while the government also authorises legal tender coins in the Niue Dollar currency for collector's purposes.
A number of mints issue a large variety of commemorative, bullion and collector coins under the authority of Niue. These coins are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Niue itself. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes - typically, one ounce of silver (abbreviated as 1 oz Ag, where "Ag" comes from the Latin word for silver, Argentum). Many of these feature famous movie characters.
The Mint says about this coin: The Nun is a 2018 American Gothic supernatural horror film made by Warner Bros. - and its demonic central character now forms part of our Chibi Coin Horror Series. The coin is a coloured and shaped Chibi version of the chilling nun in full habit - who can forget her chalky-white skin, piercing yellow eyes, and sharp fangs? Despite this unsettling image, it is a still legal tender coin with a mintage of only 2,000. The Public Seal of Niue is featured on the obverse along with confirmation that the coin is indeed 1oz of pure silver.
The packaging has been designed to match, so it’s the perfect creepy collectible for any fan. The horror inside stares out at you from the large display window! However, if you do want to take it out for a close-up, the coin is further protected by a specially designed acrylic capsule. Each coin comes with a Certificate of Authenticity along with a unique serial number on the box. |
