Niue, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar is the circulation currency for daily transactions, while the government also authorises legal tender coins in the Niue Dollar currency for collector's purposes.
A number of mints issue a large variety of commemorative, bullion and collector coins under the authority of Niue. These coins are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Niue itself. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes - typically, one ounce of silver (abbreviated as 1 oz Ag, where "Ag" comes from the Latin word for silver, Argentum). Many of these feature famous movie characters.
The Mint says about this coin: Based on the 1984 series, The Transformers, this round 1oz pure silver coin features Bumblebee (also spelled "bumble bee"), in full colour. It includes a mirror finish background, making the silver gleam! Engraved and frosted is The Transformers logo and the year 1984. On the back is the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth ll, guaranteeing it is legal tender.
This un-bee-table piece is nestled in black velvet inside a premium quality box, that features action-packed Transformers imagery. Printed on the back is a Certificate of Authenticity and the coin’s unique number in the limited mintage of 3,000. |
