Niue, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar is the circulation currency for daily transactions, while the government also authorises legal tender coins in the Niue Dollar currency for collector's purposes.
A number of mints issue a large variety of commemorative, bullion and collector coins under the authority of Niue. These coins are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Niue itself. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes - typically, one ounce of silver (abbreviated as 1 oz Ag, where "Ag" comes from the Latin word for silver, Argentum). Many of these feature famous movie characters.
This fourth and final 101 Dalmatians coin is part of an extensive New Zealand Mint range featuring Disney characters, and shows the Dalmatian Plantation.
The mint says about it: This coin features the endearing final moment in Disney "101 Dalmatians" where Roger and Anita are singing together, surrounded by their 101 dogs. Made of 1oz pure silver, the image is mostly in colour but for contrast, the wall has been engraved and frosted.
To confirm the coin as legal tender, the effigy of Queen Elizabeth ll is displayed on the obverse. The worldwide release is limited to just 2,000 coins.
Each piece arrives in a quality, custom box featuring the image as seen on the coin. A Certificate of Authenticity and the coin’s unique number in the mintage are printed on the back. |
