Silver Three Ounces 2022 Star Wars - Battle of Scarif, Coin from Niue - detailed information

Niue, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar is the circulation currency for daily transactions, while the government also authorises legal tender coins in the Niue Dollar currency for collector's purposes.

A number of mints issue a large variety of commemorative, bullion and collector coins under the authority of Niue. These coins are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Niue itself. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes, or are based on the troy ounce - for example, three ounces of silver (abbreviated as 3 oz Ag, where "Ag" comes from the Latin word for silver, Argentum).

This coin is part of a New Zealand Mint series featuring characters and themes from the Star Wars movie saga, and is the second in the Battle Scenes sub-series; it features the Battle of Scarif.

The Mint says about it:
Officially licensed, this action-packed piece shows an AT-ACT Walker and X-wing Starfighter in engraved relief with a frosted finish. This stands out strikingly against the coloured tropical landscape in the background. A mirror-finish sky completes this design and accentuates the stunning 999 fine silver. Engraved on the obverse is the effigy of Queen Elizabeth ll, confirming it as legal tender.

Each piece arrives in a high-quality, Star Wars themed box. Inside, the box is lined with black velvet and the coin sits in an acrylic capsule for protection. A Certificate of Authenticity can be found on the back along with the coin’s unique number in its limited mintage of only 1,000.
