Silver Three Ounces 2022 Lord of the Rings - Rivendell, Coin from Niue - detailed information

Niue, a sovereign state in free association with New Zealand, uses two official legal tender currencies. The New Zealand Dollar is the circulation currency for daily transactions, while the government also authorises legal tender coins in the Niue Dollar currency for collector's purposes.

A number of mints issue a large variety of commemorative, bullion and collector coins under the authority of Niue. These coins are dedicated to historical or general popular culture themes not related to Niue itself. Many of them are in standard bullion sizes, or are based on the troy ounce - for example, three ounces of silver (abbreviated as 3 oz Ag, where "Ag" comes from the Latin word for silver, Argentum).

This coin is part of a New Zealand Mint series dedicated to characters and themes from The Lord of the Rings books and films, and features Rivendell.

Created in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, this 3oz silver coin presents the House of Elrond - the magical elven sanctuary, Rivendell, from The Lord of the Rings. It is fully engraved and antiqued, with relief added to enhance this beautiful design.

The coin is made from .999 pure silver with an impressive 55mm diameter to capture the wider landscape of Rivendell. As legal tender, the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II can be found on the obverse. It arrives nestled in velvet, inside a themed, secure box. A Certificate of Authenticity and the coin’s unique number in the mintage are printed on the box. The worldwide availability is limited to only 1,000 coins.
